Western NSW -- 160kms South of Bourke.
Broken Hill School of the Air.
We are a family of 7 including Mum & Dad, + 5 boys, who run our own
sheep station in Western NSW on the banks of the Darling
river.....although 2 of the boys (twins aged 13) are away at Boarding
school. At home there is our middle child who will start Kinder with BHill SOTA in 2009 (curently completing Preschool) + twin who will turn 2 in April 2009. We are a busy household with lots happening. We don't have any full time staff although we have contract labour when needed at busy times. |

Yes I am with an in home care

Our schoolroom is situated in a cottage of the back of the main homestead. The fully enclosed front verandah of the cottage is the main part of the schoolroom with the other room being for the computer which has internet connection. Both rooms have reverse cycle airconditioner/heating so are very comfortable. The schoolroom also has TV with DVD/VCR player and CD player. Plenty of shelving and ample space for activities. The schoolroom is fully stocked with all materials needed to complete any task inlcuding art/craft supplies & games and reference materials.
The Govie accommodation is a fully self contained cottage situated about 30mtrs from the main house yard consisting of 1 bedroom, lounge/kitchen/diningroom, & own bathroom/laundry. The cottage has refridgerated aircon & heating along with full size fridge & stove/wardrobe/double bed/louge chair/dining table/dvd player & TV with own black box (making it independent of the main house). Linen is supplied. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking own meals however this can be discussed if Govie would rather eat with family on week days. We have mains power. The cottage os newly renovated. |
Normal Hours of work: (Monday to Friday) Schoolroom: 8am -- 12 midday (with smoko break somewhere in that time). LUNCH : 12 midday -- 1pm Nannying hours: 1pm -- 6pm The Govie is expected to be totally responsible for the day to day running of the schoolroom including all lesson preparation, supervision and feedback to the teacher. It is also expected that the schoolroom be given a thorough clean weekly and a tidy upon conclusion of each school day with the 5 year old encouraged to patrticipate in by way of tidying his desk. We want the schoolroom to be a fun, positive learning environment for our little boy. He is a very keen student & can spin a yarn like an old man. When possible, as the twins get older if they could be included in such activities such as sport and outdoor play, art & drama that would be fantastic. After school: (Nannying hours) The Govie would be expected to supervise the twins in the afternoons which may include general play, meal times and bathing. They are at a fun stage, although busy, starting to learn to play together. They are dear little boys who love to spend time with you. There is no expectation to do jobs outside the working day although the hours may vary when attending mini-schools or school visits to Broken Hill. The choice with meals is to eat with the family or cook for yourself. It would be appreciated if eating with us then just a hand with the clearing of the table after dinner. We have a dish washer so there are usually no dishes to be done. Weekends are your own although you are welcome to join in with what ever is happening if you wish...i.e. social event or paddock work etc. |
You will need to comply with all the regulations of In Home Care (NSW)
which include having a working with children check and holding a current
first aid certificate. You will also need to have your own Public
Liability Insurance policy. We want our Govie to be honest, reliable & loyal and have a obvious love of children. Our Govie needs to be able to cope with the isolation of living on a property with just our family for company. Having your own vehicle would be an advantage travel on weekends. We would rather someone who has completed their year 12 HSC & is a non smoker. Someone with previous Govie experience would be great although all applicants will be considered |

prepared for the next day's schooling. School work needs to be prepared

Your
own car would be an advantage. Yes but not essential. Our road is suitable for a small car although if you were to visit the surrounding villages this might not be suitable as the red rocks and gravel roads are very hard on tyres You would need to have your First Aid Certificate current, and an ABN TFN and willing to obtain insurance through In Home Child Care |
