Advice and thoughts to Employers:
  • Almost 70% of the governess in Australia come out of Victoria or NSW.  It seems that people from these states are itching to roam Australia.

  • The amount of In Home Care and Governess positions in Australia has doubled in the last 4 years.  Before In Home Care people couldn't afford anyone to help with the children.

  • More resumes than ever before have been advertise on GovAust website in 2010.

  • Low unemployment does effect our industry just the same as the rest of the country.

  • IN HOME CARE places are available in most states.  Please check if you are eligible for this funding.  More information see the Parents Page

Options for advertise other than Governess Australia:

Any person who finds a good website or newspaper to advertise in please let me know.

I am happy for anyone who wants to put a link back to their job on Governess Australia.  Particularly useful on the Jobsearch website

  • One of the local mothers from NSW recommended advertising in the newspapers along the NSW coast and she also recommended advertising in Melbourne.

  • If you want to advertise in newspapers then Rural Press Limited papers are an option.  I would think that The Land and QLD Country Life have the best employment sections and are the ones I searched in when looking for employment in the early days of governessing.

  • I have also been told that Uni notice boards are a great idea.

  • Another option might be to try one of the 3 major employment websites.... SEEK, MY CAREER or CAREERONE.  They do cost money.

Job Registers & Rural Services

 NT Home Tutor Register

The Home Tutor Register (HTR) began in 1989-90, as a small service to our ICPA Members within the Northern Territory. It's aim is to assist these parents with the streamline of advertising costs and time, by short listing the applicants, and to also provide a quick starting point for those seeking an employee urgently.   This register is controlled and funded by the Northern Territory ICPA Council. It is run voluntarily, and is supported by the NT Government and donations. Currently we are unable to find a register co-ordinator and so have sourced Anna Brown Recruitment to find governesses for our members.

Please go to the link on our webpage for more about Anna Brown Recruitment or find her own website at: http://annabrownrecruitment.com/
