Schoolroom:

When filling in this box, think about the following; How big is the schoolroom (1 room, cottage, etc.) Position in relation to other buildings. Do the children have a computer, internet, Air-conditioned, heated, radio, telephone? Is it connected to the Governesses accommodation?

 

Accommodation:

Will the Governess be sharing?  Is it air-conditioned?  Will they have to share a bathroom or laundry? 

Will they need to bring bedding?  How big is their accommodation?  Where will they be eating? 

What type of power will they be living with (solar, generator, mains)?

Where can they make phone calls from?  Will they have internet access?

 

 Job Description:

Schoolroom:

Large new schoolroom (just turning 2yrs old). Full reverse cycle air con/heating. All new furniture/fittings (except the old reading lounge). Phone line for schooling. Connected to the station kitchen. Separate from mainhouse & governesses quarters. light & airy. Lots of room. All materials supplied.

The School Room is in a Cottage with air conditioning, heating, internet, telephone and radio.  The remainder of the cottage is the Governess's accommodation. Very comfortable

We have 2 school rooms 1 is mainly an art room with heaps of supplies.  The other larger room is were most of the school work takes place.  There is a computer connected to internet, telephone.  Both rooms are airconditioned.  There is also a large cement area outside both rooms with a table and chairs which also gets use when doing messy art. Your accommodation is away about 30 m from school rooms and our house.  The walk area is a cleared area between sheds.

 

 

 

 

Accommodation:

 

The governess' cottage is a three bedroom furnished self-contained house. There is a TV/DVD player. It has evaporative air-conditioning throughout and electric hot water system. The property has town power. The governess will not be sharing with anyone else. The kitchen is fully equipped and govy will cook own meals, and can have morning tea over at main house on school days. Bedding is supplied but welcome to bring own bedding from home.

You  have your own air-conditioned room, including furniture adjacent to family house.  You can share bathroom and laundry with the family.

Separate 2 rooms with an ensuite bathroom (newly renovated). King single bed with new tall boy drawers, modern shelves, hanging space. bedside table, bookshelf, desk. air conditioned. Nice cosy room. some linen supplied.
Next to the rec room and has a great verandah/deck that faces into the lawned area. Separate TV/lounge area at staff quarters with pay TV and internet access at the station kitchen

 

 

 

 

 

Job Description:

 

Govies dream job: school starts at 8am for the Govie doing morning notices. Kids arrive at 8.30am. School is carried on throughout the day with smoko and lunch breaks. This position requires the Governess to manage the day to day running of the schoolroom from setting each days work, keeping up to date and have sports activities. The lessons are set out in accordance to the School of the Airs units. Cleaning of the schoolroom is shared with the kids but the main dusting and floors is the governesses' responsibility. School holidays sees the Governess organising holiday activities such as cooking, art, walks, movies, board games and plenty more. School finishes at 3.30pm. Some afternoons will need after school supervision for the children if Mum is out helping in the paddock...

Manage school room - including cleaning & organising. Facilitate all learning materials provided by Mount Isa School of the Air for one year seven boy. Some moving of sprinklers (lawn watering), help cook wash up dishes from the evening meal. Help out when needed. Occasional cleaning duties.  Afternoon activities to be organised when school work is completed i.e. sports, art etc School day from 8am - 4pm

Tutoring & Managing the Schoolroom. Keeping the Schoolroom organized, tidy & Clean. Returning of school papers, when each unit is finished. Help with washing dishes after tea.

 

 

 

 

Expectation and Requirements:

Blue card is required (QLD law)
Own car is required for your personal use.  We live on a unsealed road with alot of rock so a suitable car is needed.  Unfortunately a little run around car would not survive out here a  4WD would be appropriate.
Senior First Aid Certificate or willing to get one.

We would prefer someone with distance education experience or understanding.  Someone who has teaching experience or is thinking of becoming a teacher.  All applicants will be considered.  Living out here can be challenging but also very rewarding.
